The Self-Actualized Life

Have a fulfilling life sexually and every other way!

About me

My name is Anna Levenson. I have a wonderful husband of over 10 years and we have three children, David (21), Kristin (19), and Gavin (10). Obviously, he is step dad to a couple of those! I went back to school after I had my first two children and completed a BPS at University of Memphis for Sociology and Health Science. During this time, I was a dancer, an exotic dancer. I was able to obtain my degree, work the hours I needed to work, raise my children, and revel in my sexual power. A mother with sexual power! Yeah! I met my husband, online playing card games, 3000 miles away, when I was in my last year of my bachelor degree. We married and had a son. He broke my pelvis when I had him and in the past ten years I had three major surgeries. I was able to obtain my Master of Science in Psychology from Kaplan University. In July of 2015, I am returning to school to obtain my terminal degree, A PsyD in Psychology!

I find it kind of sad that in 2016, we still find sex as kind of a taboo subject, something that is going to effect sexuality forever. Spend a little time online and you’ll find porn and erotica and plenty of talk about sex, but very little general sexual discussion. Part of having a great love relationship is having a great sexual relationship. My goal is to help everyone have a great love relationship so they can have the best, most fulfilling sex they can possibly have. At this point in time, the topic for my doctoral thesis is The State of Relationships in Modern Society: Disposable vs. Forever Relationships. If you have read any of my work you may recall me using these terms and discussing them before.

I have been trying to write a book and find an agent for the past year or so. During this time, I began to write and found that people enjoyed what I wrote. I hope you do too!

UPDATE: The hubbs and I just celebrated our 12 year anniversary, together for 15. My oldest son, now married and in the Air Force, had a baby two days ago. I’m no grandma though! I’ve decided to go with Bubbe (Yiddush for Grandma). He is named after my daddy’s middle name. My daughter, now almost 21, has returned to school for her nursing degree and my youngest is about to enter middle school!! While I’m working on my terminal degree, I have to pay the bills, so I began PsychMediaOne. Find us at PsychMediaOne for Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook and @psych_media1 for Twitter. You can find my personal accounts at annalevensonpsy (Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter) and Anna Psy Levenson on Facebook.

  1. You have lived a very interesting and full life! I am interested in your blog partly because until the past few years my marriage was in dire straights. I found a life coach who brought out my own sexuality and helped me get rid of all the fears surrounding it. This year will mark our 15th anniversary and it just gets better and better!

  3. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that I enjoy reading some of your stuff. I am intrigued by Maslow as well. I kind of see similarities with his pyramid and the chakra system. Dr. Wayne Dyer was a big fan. 🙂 Joe

  6. Thnak you for dropping by at article I made for Millionaires Digest. Well, I’m happy to find you here in the blogging community. Sex is one of the subjects that a lot of people have distortions with! Have a great day ahead 🙂

  7. Anna! I love it when I stumble upon fascinating people such as yourself and with similar interests! I wasn’t a dancer though; totally two left feet. Divorced Momma with two precious kids, trying to finish my masters in MHC. I teach AP Psychology and Human Geography. Will be also teaching Sociology next year. I too am so concerned with the taboo nature in which people approach sex in general but specifically how this is underrated/ignored in its significance to a healthy, loving relationship. Look forward to learning and connecting with you. 🙂 Pepper

  8. From one Doc to another, but most importantly, from one Bubbe to another (nobody should call me grandma!) – thank you for visiting my blog, for the like and the follow. I am so glad you found me, and now I found you!
P.S. Did you know that Maslow was diagnosed “mentally unstable” as a kid? Tells us something, doesn’t it?
P.P.S. Have you read “Kosher Sex” by Shmuley Boteach? What do you think?

  9. My dog Bandit was with me a week short of eighteen years. At twelve years, Bandit and my wives were linked together in jest. Bandit was with me longer than all three of my wives put together. When someone about being married a long time I am happy for them and jealouse of them. 💓
