Heaven on earth with an onion slice~ Jimmy Buffett Aside: for a drama class mid-term we had to do a song as a monologue. Scott Jacobs, this is dedicated to you!
Day 5 of the challenge (find it here) is to list 5 favorite foods or recipes. Alternately, you can list 5 foods or things that you dislike! Since I usually write longer posts than this would cover, I’m going to give you a few I love, a few I hate, and one really awesome recipe.
I love potatoes. Baked, fried (although I try not to go there), in hash browns, in casseroles, as tater tots, chips, mashed, you get the idea. I could probably subsist on potatoes were I to find it necessary. My other favorite is fruit. I don’t think I could pick just one. I could easily live on fruit and potatoes without batting an eye. The exception? Honeydew. My father passed away when I was 9 and I still remember his fondness for the honeydew melon. I, however, find it gross and slimy. Thanks, but no thanks!
A couple of foods I dislike intensely are pizza (because I dislike red sauce) and capers. I don’t know why people think capers immediately elevates any dish. I think they’re nasty. As for pizza, I still remember when I was in 7th grade, the teacher was trying to teach about pie charts and she polled the class for which kind of pizza they liked. I was the only kid in the class that didn’t like pizza. No one could quite grasp the idea, which amused me!
Badumchhh….
Lastly, this is a recipe that is crazy easy but my kids LOVE (for that matter, the hubbs is a big fan too)
5-layer casserole:
1 lb ground beef
1 can french style green beans
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 bag tater tots
Preheat oven to 450. Brown ground beef and drain. Layer items in 13×9 casserole dish in order given. (Tip: When adding cream of mushroom, spoon in dollops around dish then gently spread) Put in oven uncovered 1 hour, or until tater tots are browned and cheese is bubbling. Enjoy!

I can’t have red sauce because of an allergy to tomatoes. But I still like pizza – I get (or make) a garlic white sauce, then just use mushrooms and lotza mozza on top! Your casserole sounds great except I may have to substitute peas for green beans (or cut them really tiny) as Hubby won’t eat them. I LOVE potatoes too! 🙂
