For the sixth challenge you are to take a poem, a word, and a picture and integrate them. And I’m starting to see that, although he drew me in with his challenges and interesting nature of the challenge, I’m starting to believe he’s performing a large psychological experiment on humans or something. Maybe it’s the psychologist in me (or the fact that I sometimes perform little experiments on my own family, I know, terrible, but hilarious), but I now believe the challenge exists simply to mess with us. Unwitting little lab mice, but I disgress…..

The link to today’s challenge is right here, the Mass Media Challenge. Not sure why this is mass media, but here goes. This is my take on the challenge. We have gone overboard. We have become so PC, TOO PC. There is such a thing. Just don’t hate. That’s what it boils down to every time. My son, now 22, came in one day when he was about 10, very upset. He had two friends, both minorities, who were throwing racial slurs at each other. I sat all three boys down and I said to them all your life someone will hate you for no other reason than how you look. Why would you want that with your friends? They apologized and went out to play together. It was really a nice moment.

Here we live in a digital age, our phone nothing more than a small computer we carry around with us, tethered to our hips. When we have this beautiful world, this gorgeous view, and we can enjoy it, together. Perhaps he called it a Mass Media Challenge because with social media we can get information, we have information at the tips of our fingers with our phones, while our lives pass us by and another sun sets. Either way, I would rather enjoy more sunsets and fewer telephone calls. Until then,
