Peter (Tosh), I’m with ya, dude. Just in case you don’t know what I’m talking about (in which case, you been living under a rock?)
I’ve mentioned before how thanks to cannabis, I’ve been able to stop taking prescription medication at least 95% of the time. I make no secret of this, even though I live in a state that may not love my admission. I don’t care. I’ve had seizures from medications (neurological medications treatment for migraine headaches) and terrible side effects. I’ve had blackouts and I even had to deal with Child Protective Services in Chicago (the investigator told me it was one of the most baseless claims he had ever investigated in over 20 years. Guess who turned me in? My sperm donor, the gambling and alcohol addict). I went to NA (Narcotics Anonymous) TWICE. I said this person turned me into CPS, Do I have a problem? This is what I take, this is why, and this is when. I don’t call my doctor and ask for extra medication. I don’t “lose” medication, but I’m still considered a drug seeker.
Well, people are taking to twitter in DROVES with the #growuporshutup and #startmakingsense. I added #WakeUpAmerica and #legalizeandregulate to my own twitter posts @AnnaLevensonPsy (if you want to see). I have talked about my Doctoral Dissertation ad nauseam, but my Master level Thesis was titled Adults Perceptions of Children and Adolescent Use of Medical Cannabis for ADHD, autism, seizure disorder, etc. If you are interested, you can find it published online here. It was one of the first of its kind and I’m very proud and honored to be part of this pioneering research. But I digress….
My 11-year-old angel has ADHD. Apparently, this means he cannot have a say about legalization unless he’s over 30. If you’re curious, go to twitter and read more about this ridiculous news!
Until then, I’m honoring my ADHD baby, and his siblings (ages 22 and 20), who aren’t allowed to have an opinion.
I really feel for you. I haven’t tried it for my pain yet; however, I have read enough good things that I am considering it. My doctor has suggested it several times. Here in Canada our new Prime Minister made a campaign promise that he will legalize pot not just for medicinal purposes but general use. In my province, there is a a battle going on because the government is trying to only allow a few places to sell it more medicinal purposes which will put several places out of business and make it more difficult for patients to get it. Our situation is not as bad as yours but bureaucracy is a bitch.

When I had my 11 yo, and broke my pelvis, compounding the migraines that plagued me since I was 9, I was in pain every minute of every day. After over a year of serious pain medication, I brought home some cannabis a friend gave me. To this day I remember that one hour I had without pain. ONE hour, after more than a year of constant horrible pain!

Oh, that must have been a glorious hour. I understand the constant pain. I have a triple fracture affecting L1 and L3, pushing L2 toward my spine from an accident over 20 years ago. They can’t operate for fear it will knock L2 into my spine. The way it is right now is safe, just very painful all the time with my other conditions being bitter icing on the cake. Have you not been able to get cannabis since?

lol please, I LIVE on cannabis!! I will remember that hour forever because it was the first time in almost 14 months I didn’t have pain for an hour. I was sold after that! I make edibles, eat a lil something in the am, afternoon, and pm and I’m good all day!

It’s a wonder drug girl! I’m telling you! I have a funny story actually. Someone said to me the other day that I looked high. I said really that’s funny cuz I’m always high lol its kinda my baseline. Cannabis doesn’t work on a medical user like a recreational user. It treats the disease, whatever it may be!

Amen! Yes!! Bingo!!! Why is it so hard for some to see the benefits? Why are there still people in power who could be extras in Reefer Madness!? Why is it still illegal?

We’re up to 24 states and D.C. with legal medical. I believe a tipping point is coming soon!

I think so too. At least I’m hopeful. It’s headed the right direction though. 😃

I almost forgot, NA told me, we can’t help you because you’re not an addict. You’re taking medication your doctor told you to take, when he told you to take them!

I live in SC and it’s not legal here. I was in a very bad accident in June 2015 where I suffered an open-book pelvic fracture, two broken hips and shattered the entire left side of my pelvis among other various injuries. I live in a constant state of pain. I sincerely wish they’d make it legal here so I could get at least SOME relief.
Impatiently waiting for the “Bible Belt” to catch up.

I’m so sorry that happened. It’s really terrible and no one understands that hasn’t been through it. It isn’t legal here but fuck them (I would say excuse my language but since auto corrected me, I think it fits lol) so I’m gonna smoke and they can kiss my fat white ass

Right. I completely agree. It’d just be SO much easier if they’d get on board. I mean it’s a PLANT for crying out loud!
