I mentioned an article to my daughter earlier today and I asked her if she really read what I write? Her answer? Most of the time…… unless I know where its going (read: mom doing dirty stuff= eww lol). My amazing little girl, who’s not much of a little girl anymore, has been talking about starting college. She wants to become a nurse. She’s only 20, so not like she’s been out of school for a long time and I’ve never been concerned she wouldn’t go back. She’s got goals and she plans to reach them. It’s one thing I am most proud of with her, her determination. Also, the thing that drove me most crazy when she was 3 incidentally (lol). But I digress….

Today, we went up to Southwest, where she had already been accepted. We went from office to office; advising, financial aid, the burser, back to admission, off to advising, getting a student ID, and a parking pass. I’m kind of exhausted just thinking about it right now! The end result is she is on her way to her very first class right now. I’m not sure who is more excited, me or her! When I remember my first day in my first college class, I remember the apprehension. I also remember the near-overwhelming excitement, the culmination of my preparations and the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

As you begin this new chapter, I have a few words for you. Why should this day be different than any other huh? Don’t forget, you’re going to be smarter than most of your classmates, even some of the teachers. Best not to remind them of that. Do remember, these are the most expensive classes you have ever taken. Study. Take full advantage. Don’t forget that you are one of the most enjoyable people I know to be around. Everyone else is going to see that too. Do know how very very proud we all are of you. You’re going to be an amazing nurse.

Go get em angel!! Kick some butt!
