I’m not the most feminine chick in all the land, but I’m cool with that. Luckily, so is the hubbs. Even though I was an exotic dancer, I’ve never been overly girly. I rarely wear make-up and pj pants are de rigueur at home. I’ve been told my laugh is loud, although I prefer to think of it as “lusty.” There are certain girly things I do love to indulge in like getting my nails done or getting a massage. I’m sure we’ve all seen the posts about how tattooed women are just as sexy as anyone else. I know there is so much about gender roles being thrown around and I realize that feminism is alive and well in so many forms.

The thing about feminism, or being a woman, is that sexiness is a state of mine. Feminism is a state of mind. You have to decide that you want to feel complete and full. It may sound trite, but it is true. I was talking to a friend and made a comment that I never felt I was particularly pretty, but I realized that I have a certain something that attracts a wide variety of men. I know this from dating, but also from dancing. That will give you a good idea of who is attracted to your looks! He asked me why and I responded that I didn’t really know. I guess its the parts that I pick apart, the parts that I don’t like, and everyone has those. But, I don’t let those parts take away from my whole.

The sum of my parts is more than the parts. It’s important to remember, but so very difficult to remind ourselves, that people do not pick up apart like we do ourselves. If you feel confident and happy, that will translate. It will effect your outlook. You don’t have to be “feminine” to feel sexy or be happy. So, suck on that!
